Strongest Point › Connect › Apple Health
Connected sources
A Shortcut on your iPhone reads last night from the Health app and sends it to your card. It runs by itself each morning. About ten minutes to set up, once.
You build this in Apple's Shortcuts app, so the exact names can differ a little between iOS versions. If a step doesn't match what you see, email hello@strongestpoint.com with a screenshot and we'll sort it out together.
In Strongest Point, open Account & plan, scroll to Connected sources, choose Apple Health and tap Make a key. Copy the key. Until it has been used once, “Copy again” stays next to it in the list on that phone, so you can come back for it after opening a-Shell. Note the “Send to” address under it too.
Under the key, “What it fills” lists sleep hours, resting heart rate, heart rate variability and steps. Your hours-of-sleep item is picked already if you have one. For any other number you want on the card, pick “Add a new item for it”, or “Add items for the rest” for all of them. Leave anything you don't want on Nothing; only mapped numbers are used.
Open the Shortcuts app, tap +, and name it "Send health to Strongest Point". Add the actions below in order. Each one is found by searching its name in the action list.
Action: Find Health Samples. Type: Sleep Analysis. Add a filter: Value is Asleep (on newer iOS, tick the asleep stages: Core, Deep, REM, Unspecified). Add a filter: Start Date is in the last 1 days. Turn Sort off.
Action: Calculate Statistics. Operation: Sum, of Duration, on the samples above.
Action: Convert Measurement, to Hours. Then Action: Round Number, to 1 decimal place. Rename this result "sleep_hours" (tap the variable, Rename).
Action: Find Health Samples. Type: Resting Heart Rate. Filter: Start Date is in the last 1 days.
Action: Calculate Statistics, Average. Round Number to 0 decimals. Rename it "resting_hr".
HRV: Find Health Samples, Type: Heart Rate Variability, last 1 day; Calculate Statistics, Average; Round; rename "hrv".
Steps: Find Health Samples, Type: Steps, last 1 day; Calculate Statistics, Sum; Action: Calculate, divide by 1000; Round to 1 decimal; rename "steps_thousands".
Action: Date (current date). Action: Format Date, Date Format: Custom, format string yyyy-MM-dd. Rename it "date". The numbers land on the day you woke up.
Action: Get Contents of URL. URL: the "Send to" address from step 1. Method: POST. Headers: add one, Key "Authorization", Value "Bearer " followed by your key (a space after Bearer).
Request Body: JSON. Add a Text field "date" with the date variable. Add a Dictionary field "values"; inside it add a Number field for each number you mapped: "sleep_hours", and if you have them "resting_hr", "hrv", "steps_thousands", each set to its variable.
Action: Show Result (optional), so you can see the reply when you run it by hand.
Tap the play button. The first run asks for permission to read Health data; allow the types you used. The reply says how many values were written. Back in Strongest Point, Account & plan shows "last sent" under the key, and the card shows the value marked "filled in from Apple Health".
In Shortcuts, open the Automation tab, tap +, choose Time of Day, set 8:00 AM, Daily, and "Run Immediately" (so it doesn't ask). Pick "Send health to Strongest Point". Done. Your iPhone has to be on and unlocked at some point after 8 for it to run; it catches up when it is.
Android's Health Connect keeps data on the phone and has no way for a website to read it, so for now there is no equivalent on Android. Tell us if you'd use one; it would need a small app.
Connected sources send numbers from a device or service you choose to your own card. Strongest Point stores those numbers as entries and a fingerprint of your key, nothing else. Apple, Apple Health, ResMed, myAir and Oura are trademarks of their owners; Strongest Point is not affiliated with them. Nothing here is medical advice.
